About Ashley of Modernette

Hi!  I’m Ashley, and I can generally be found a) writing, b) behind my camera, or c) blogging about a & b.  I love diy projects, classic rock, pop-punk, and my bull terrier, Shasta.  I also love living on the gorgeous west coast.  Nowadays I try to lead a pretty upbeat life, and I hope to have my blog reflect that.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is how much there is to learn.  There are so many different types of bloggers (myself included) sharing so many pieces of knowledge that are new to me, that it’s impossible to not pick up a new skill or interest along the way.  I also love the amount of new people that my blog allows me to meet.

What inspires you and what you post about on your blog?

Strangely enough, I think that music inspires me the most.  It gives me the inspiration to try new things, to be fearless and creative, draw, write, and take photographs – I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it.  I mostly post about my adventures on the west coast, pop culture, diy projects, and my dog!

What is one tool or trick that has helped you as a blogger?

The only trick I have up my sleeve is consistency.  Keeping my creativity flowing not only enables me to be more creative, but it also produces the content that fuels my blog.  My favourite blogging tools are communities – my two favourites are Blog Trends (obvs!) and the few that I am a part of on Google Plus.

How has the Blog Trends community helped you?

I have seriously met so many incredible people through the Blog Trends community, and learned so much from the weekly chats.  Blog Trends helped me lay the foundation of my blog, and even still, continues to churn out new information every week that allows me to grow it.

Great interview! Definitely agree about the whole ‘community’ aspect of blogging. I’m looking forward to reading about Ashely’s DIY project 🙂
