How to Use Polyvore on your Blog

By Lindsay Carreiro

One of the biggest things that as a fashion blogger I started having a problem with was creating outfits within my blog posts. I couldn’t figure out how to create seamless looks that didn’t look as if I just uploaded photos without a thought. Not to mention that taking the time to find each shirt, shoe,or accessory took me hours. There is nothing worse than reading a blog post about style and not fully being able to see what the author is talking about.

So, allow me to share with you my newest obsession: Polyvore.

Polyvore is an online style boutique that allows you to create outfits and also buy what you create. It’s basically a shopaholic’s dream. That being said, creating looks has never been easier. It adds that extra something when I’m really trying to drive a blog post home. It allows me to easily showcase every item that I posted about.

The skinny:

  • Shop by color and price (perfect for doing “under $50” posts).
  • Search easily for anything and everything (watches, sneakers, cocktail dresses).
  • Easily drag over each item to the style board.
  • Add text such as “Lust versus Must.”
  • Easily add background pictures to give your style board a little something extra.

One of the most important tips that I’ve realized as a fashion blogger is showcasing looks that I would actually wear.  I can show these looks to your reader and more importantly what brands to purchase them from. We are living in a world of instant gratification and if you can provide access to the top looks, then your readers will keep coming back.

Have fun styling with Polyvore — I noticed a difference in my website and let’s see if you do, too.

I LOVE Polyvore. I have been using it for a little over a year now and is perfect for fashion bloggers, image consultants and style mavens. You can also embed your entire Polyvore collections in your blogger or WP as well as a showcase featuring your styling skills.
